Handmade In Mexico

BBC FOUR

A "slow TV" series of films revealing the process of creating uniquely Mexican artworks. The Huipil is a vibrantly embroidered garment made and worn by women in Istmo de Tehuantepec. Tree of Life sculptures, strongly associated with Metepec, were originally used to teach bible stories to indigenous people. Alebrijes are exquisite wood carvings painted with Zapotec symbolism in intricate detail.
